Placer County, CA Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) is present in every home, but many may not even be aware of what it is or that it’s illegal to dispose of in the regular trash. HHW includes household cleaners, household and vehicle batteries, paint and paint products, used oil and filters, automotive fluids, acids, pesticides, hypodermic needles, poisons, pool chemicals, and most products labeled DANGER, CAUTION, WARNING, FLAMMABLE, POISON, etc.

To improve convenience and safety for residents, the Authority Board voted to more than double the hours of the HHW facility, so that it’s now open EVERYDAY from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (It was previously open three days per week from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) The service is FREE and is for Placer County residents ONLY. Acceptable items Quantities are limited to 15 gallons or 125 pounds per vehicle per visit.
